Tomorrow will be the opening day of the International Book Fair in Frankfurt, Germany. It is an annual five-day affair, with more than 7,300 exhibitors from over 100 countries taking part. There will be an estimated attendance of 10,000 journalists and over 300,000 trade and general visitors. It is the largest annual book fair in the world – a place where publishers and authors go to discover each other . . . a bit like speed dating, except without the alcohol.
My first book, ‘Charades with a Lunatic’, will be presented there . . . A somewhat confused debutante that has no real idea how she ended up across the ocean.
If my book attracts the right pair of eyes, it will be like speed dating AND winning the sweepstakes in one fell swoop. I, and thousands of others, have more of a chance of being struck by lightning.
Add to that the Desperate Competition Factor, and it will be like speed dating, winning the sweepstakes, AND being crowned Miss America. But then again, with over 7,000 ingenious entrants, it might very well end up being merely deep-sixed with a knife in its back. Whatever happens, I remain vaguely hopeful. It will, however, certainly be in the thick of things this weekend.
. . . And THAT makes me happy!
. . . P.S. . . Don’t forget to register on this Web site to win a free copy of my soon-to-be-released book, ‘The Doll In The Wall’. You can either click on the blue circle at the end of this blog, and submit a remark, your name, and email (which will remain confidential), or you can go to the right side of this page and Login to Community Forums. November 7th, I will choose three winners from the list of those who had registered on my Web site and present them with a signed copy of ‘The Doll In The Wall’ – the second book in my series of humorous mysteries.
