On my last post, I claimed that my dog Beau liked to wear clothes. This goes against everything the Dog Whisperer stands for. ‘Do not treat your dog like a human,’ he says. Good advice. However, Beau noticed that he got a lot of attention on the beach when he was in his shorts and shades. Girls wanted to hold him. He loved girls. It was inevitable . . . every time we uttered the word ‘beach’, Beau would run to the box where I stored his shorts. And being the tolerant people that we are, we dressed him. . . However, being the sick people we are, we made him a wardrobe.
I said that we were sick . . .
‘Don’t spoil your dog,’ the Dog Whisperer also says. ‘It makes them unhappy.’
Again, we failed the experts.
And the Dog Whisperer’s final word is, ‘When you have a well-balanced dog, you have a true companion.’ Yeah, right . . . Beau was the most fun when he was the most unbalanced.
I couldn’t have had a better dog. Though Beau probably could have had better masters – At least according to the Dog Whisperer.
Goodnight, Beau. You’ve been a good boy . . Sleep well . . .
